Automotive Fasteners in Texas — Home State Proud, Nationwide Trusted
ASP Clips was born in Texas. In 1990, Doug Lindquist started Automotive Specialty Products out of a small garage in Liberty Hill — a Central Texas community that sits between Austin and the Hill Country. Armed with a retired tool truck converted into a mobile warehouse, a catalog, and a Lotus spreadsheet, Doug set out to personally service the Austin Metro area with a simple conviction: service should be the goal of the sale, not an afterthought to it.
More than 35 years later, ASP Clips has grown into one of the largest independently owned fastener companies in the United States. We still call Texas home — our warehouse and headquarters are in Bertram, TX — and we still run on the same principles Doug built the business on. Texas wasn’t just where we started. It’s the market where we proved what a service-first fastener distributor could do, and it’s the market we know better than any other.
Serving Texas Auto Shops from the Panhandle to the Valley
- Houston Metro — The largest city in Texas and one of the largest in the country, Houston’s automotive market is enormous and diverse. From the collision repair shops serving the Energy Corridor to the dealership service centers in Sugar Land and The Woodlands, to the independent shops across Harris County — Houston shops work on every platform imaginable. Gulf Coast humidity and salt air add a corrosion dimension that inland Texas doesn’t deal with as much, making stainless hardware and corrosion-resistant fasteners a regular part of the Houston shop supply list. ASP Clips has distributor presence in the Houston market and ships direct to the region.
- Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex — DFW is hail country, collision country, and one of the fastest-growing metro areas in the nation. The Metroplex’s auto body and collision market is massive, and hail seasons turn the volume up dramatically. Shops across Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Arlington, Frisco, McKinney, and the surrounding communities need a fastener supplier who can handle high-volume orders quickly and consistently. Our distributor coverage in North Texas and direct warehouse shipping gives DFW shops the supply chain depth they need.
- Austin-San Marcos-Kyle Corridor — This is ASP Clips’ home territory. We’ve been serving the Austin metro since 1990, and our knowledge of this market runs deep. Austin’s explosive growth has transformed the automotive services market — more people, more vehicles, more shops. Import vehicles are common in Austin, driven by the city’s tech industry population, which means metric hardware and import-specific clips are high-demand items. Our local distributor presence in the Austin area is among our strongest in the state.
- San Antonio — Military installations, a large blue-collar workforce, and a growing professional population make San Antonio’s automotive market both high-volume and diverse. Domestic trucks and SUVs dominate, but import vehicles are common. ASP Clips has distributor coverage in the San Antonio market.
- West Texas and the Permian Basin (Midland, Odessa, Lubbock) — Oil field trucks take a beating. The commercial vehicle repair market in West Texas is driven by energy industry demand, and the shops serving it need Grade 8 hardware, heavy-duty body fasteners for pickup platforms, and durable shop supplies in consistent supply. ASP Clips serves West Texas through direct shipping and distributor relationships in the region.
- Rio Grande Valley (McAllen, Laredo, Brownsville) — The Valley’s border communities have a distinctive vehicle mix that includes a high volume of older import platforms and cross-border traffic. Replacement clips for older Japanese and Korean vehicles, metric hardware, and broad body fastener coverage are all in demand from Valley shops. Our catalog depth in these categories makes ASP Clips a natural fit for the market.
- East Texas and the Gulf Coast (Beaumont, Tyler, Lufkin) — East Texas combines petrochemical industry vehicles with the coastal humidity challenges of the Gulf region. Body fasteners, corrosion-resistant hardware, and truck-specific clips are all part of the regular demand from shops in this corridor.
- Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend — Salt air, Gulf humidity, and a strong military presence at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi shape the repair market here. Stainless hardware and corrosion-resistant fasteners are particularly relevant for coastal shops. ASP Clips ships to the Corpus Christi market directly and through distributors.
Our Full Product Catalog for Texas Auto Shops
Body Fasteners
The core of what we do. Push-type retainers, Christmas tree clips, bumper cover fasteners, fender clips, door trim retainers, quarter panel fasteners, and platform-specific body clips for domestic, Japanese, Korean, European, and other import vehicles. Texas shops work on everything, and our body fastener catalog covers the full range of what rolls through a Texas bay.
Our replacement clip inventory is particularly deep for the high-volume domestic truck and SUV platforms that dominate Texas roads. F-Series, Silverado, Ram, Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition, Tundra — if it’s a common Texas platform, we stock the clips that go with it.
Trim Fasteners and Molding Clips
Exterior trim, moldings, pillar covers, rocker panels, glass retention systems, and interior trim fasteners for door cards, headliners, dash panels, and rear compartment trim. Trim repairs require exact-match clips, and our catalog depth means Texas shops spend less time hunting and more time building.
Metric Hardware
Import vehicles are a massive portion of Texas’s vehicle parc, particularly in Houston, Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio. Our metric hardware line covers the thread sizes, grades, and configurations needed for Japanese, Korean, and European platform repairs — not just the common sizes, but the specialty metric fasteners that specific platforms demand.
Grade 5, Grade 8, Metric, and Stainless Hardware
Structural repairs, suspension components, and heavy-duty mechanical work require hardware that meets or exceeds OEM specs. Our Grade 5 and Grade 8 inventory is built for Texas’s truck-heavy market. Stainless hardware is available for applications where corrosion resistance is needed — particularly relevant for coastal Texas shops dealing with Gulf humidity and salt air.
Electrical Components
Wiring harness clips, cable management retainers, conduit brackets, and electrical fasteners for modern vehicle repair. As Texas’s EV and hybrid vehicle adoption grows — particularly in Austin and the major metros — proper electrical component fasteners are becoming a more important part of every shop’s inventory.
Pre-Made Assortments
Our pre-made assortments are a natural fit for Texas, where distributors and shops are often setting up new locations, adding service bays, or stocking satellite facilities. Rather than building an opening order from scratch, our assortments give you a working starting inventory based on real demand patterns across the repair industry.
Drill Bits, Tools, and Chemicals
Shop consumables that keep production running — drill bits, cutting tools, adhesives, and chemical products for bonding and surface preparation. One supplier, one purchase order, less administrative friction.
Local Distributor Coverage Across Texas
One of the biggest advantages Texas shops have when working with ASP Clips is access to our local distributor network. ASP Clips has established distributor relationships across the state, meaning many Texas shops can get local stocking support, quick-turn deliveries, and hands-on service from a distributor who knows their market — backed by the full ASP Clips catalog and warehouse infrastructure.
This is how Doug Lindquist built ASP Clips from a one-truck Austin operation into a statewide business: by adding mobile warehouses and distributor coverage in every region of Texas. That regional model is still how we serve Texas today.

The ASP Clips Advantage for Texas Shops
Texas has plenty of fastener suppliers. Here’s what separates ASP Clips:
- We were built here. ASP Clips started in Texas, grew in Texas, and has served Texas shops for over three decades. We understand the market, the vehicle mix, the climate, and the demands of running an automotive repair business in this state in ways that out-of-state suppliers simply don’t.
- Local distributors plus direct warehouse access. Most Texas shops have the option to work with a local ASP Clips distributor for quick-turn deliveries and personalized service — backed by our full catalog and warehouse infrastructure for larger or specialty orders.
- Service is the goal of the sale. That’s not a tagline — it’s the founding philosophy of this company. Doug Lindquist built ASP Clips around the idea that shops deserve a supplier who helps them find the right solution, not just the easiest part to ship. That principle is still how we operate today.
- Competitive pricing for every market. Independent ownership means we don’t have national chain overhead driving up pricing. Texas shops from Houston to Amarillo get competitive pricing without paying a premium for a brand name.
- ASPTRACS inventory management. Our proprietary platform gives shops and distributors tools to track usage, manage par levels, and streamline reordering — reducing administrative burden and keeping your supply chain tight.
